11x14"
" Tara or Arya Tara, is a female Buddha known for
compassion, long life, healing and serenity; also known as The Wish-fulfilling
Wheel, or Cintachakra. Tara is seen in many forms; the 2 most popular
being Green Tara & White Tara.
The name Tara means 'star', therefore I have depicted a star shaped Lotus
flower in the upper left corner & she is also sprinkling gold stars
into the rainbow, which represents Tara assisting with the hopes &
dreams of Mankind. The Lantern which is creating the rainbow shines the
light of the Goddess down to earth.
The Pink Lotus flowers at her feet represent the highest spirtiual status
possible, & also the way in which Tara was introduced to me. The flowers
are in 3 stages of growth, seed, bud & blossom to represent past,
present & future. The red of her skirt represents the colour of creation,
& feminine power.
Tara is the Goddess of compassion & traditionally has seven eyes with
which to see all the suffering in the world, four of which can be seen
here. (2 in the usual place, 1 on the forehead & 1 in the palm of
her hand. The other 3 are on her opposite hand & the soles of her
feet)
Butterflies not only symbolise freedom & creativity, but they, along
with the Dragonflies are a personal symbol within my life.
Below the painting I have written a traditional meditation chant to call
upon Tara."
